Oldbury weightlifter hoping to lift Commonwealth medal

MEDAL-winning hopeful Jaswant Shergill wil be going for gold in the weighlifting section of the Commonwealth Games tomorrow.

The 20-year-old member of the Oldbury Academy Weightlifting Club will be competing for England in the men's 62kg class.

He is the current English champion and coach Sam Hayer believes he is well placed for a medal.

Jaswant’s success in making it to the Glasgow Games, means the club has had competitors in three consecutive Games, the previous two being in Mebourne and Delhi.
