THE brother-in-law of a Halesowen cancer sufferer ran for her life in the New York Marathon to raise money for research into the disease.
Kevin Wells completed the world famous event in an above average time of three hours 50 minutes to raise almost £800 for Bowel Cancer UK.
The 51-year-old, postal worker, of Willowsbrook Road, said the marathon was “quite an experience” - on a different level to the other three he has completed in Wolverhampton, Cheltenham and Leicester.
His sister-in-law, mother-of-two Susan Lester, aged 44, of Woodbury Road, who is undergoing chemotherapy, said: “I am so proud of him – he was the only one running for Bowel Cancer UK.”
