THERE is no party like an Arty Party.

And those who are interested in the arts have a chance to join that party thanks to Cradley Heath Creative's Oss Box when they visit The Stables at Haden Hill Park on Sunday (November 13).

With visiting artists who live and work around the area, the day is set to be a draw for everyone.

The day falls on Remembrance Sunday and the event starts with a commemorative silence at the front door of Haden Hill House.

Visitors will find the Oss Box converted into an open air stage for ‘The Sandalwood Mouse’, a play written for Halesowen’s Mayhem Theatre Group, followed by improvisations by Richard Adey, accordion player. There is an exhibition of prints by Louise Blakeway and Harry Parkes’s photographs reinterpret the Stable Block and Haden Hill House. Vincent Thomas, an industrial artist, will make steel poppies on a mobile forge. Other artists will be drawing around Haden Hill Park.

Martyn Harris is showing eight paintings of Haden Hill House. He has chosen to include a painting called ‘A Poppy Field in France’ as a tribute to the bravery of service men and women. The painting will be auctioned to raise funds for the British Legion. Martyn is the nephew of the late Horace Hill who served in the Second World War and was secretary of the Cradley British Legion.

Arty Party is the third of five events to highlight possible community use of the Stables, which were made weatherproof through Heritage Lottery Funding in 2009. Oss Box at the Stables is a collaboration between Cradley Heath Creative, Friends of Haden Hill Estate and Sandwell Museums, supported by an award from Creative Black Country.

On the previous day, Saturday, (November 12) from 3pm to 7pm, Oss Box will be in Christmas party mode when it visits Cradley Heath High Street for the switch on of the Christmas Lights, decorated as Santa’s Grotto by members of the Community Link.
