AN outstanding Oldbury curry house has made it to the final of the British Takeaway Awards in London.

Chilli Massala, Bristnall Hall Road, is one of only five West Midlands finalists to qualify for the prestigious awards at The Savoy on December 5.

The awards are hosted by comedian Rob Brydon, with Ainsley Harriott and Sarah Willingham, on the judging panel choosing the winners after over 110,000 people voted.

Chilli Massala serves up authentic Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine adding new dishes every year, house specialities lamb cicilian jalfrezi and peshwari chicken

2016 has been a success for Chili Massala with orders up and new staff members have been hired to cope with demand, taking their total staff to eight.

Owner Mohammed Abdul Ahad said: “It’s great news to be in the top five best takeaways in the West Midlands.

"We, at Chilli Masala, strive to make the best tasting food for our customers to keep them happy so we have their support.”

The BTAs are run in association with online delivery Just Eat and celebrate the diverse range of cuisines and rewarding the contribution of takeaway owners to local communities and the British economy.

The finalists will now be marked on a mystery shopping experience, and have also been asked to provide a submission on why they deserve to win.

Graham Corfield, UK managing director of Just Eat and chairman of the judging panel, said: “These finalists clearly have the loyal support of their customers, who have voted in their thousands to get them into the top five takeaways in the West Midlands.

"What is common among all the finalists is that they produce fantastic food, deliver great customer service and play a vital role at the heart of their community."
