THE state of public toilets in Alexandra Park have been slammed by one of the area's councillors.
Cllr Wayne Hoban, who represents the Alexandra ward, is calling for the council to clean up the public conveniences in the Alexandra Palace children's playground.
He claims that the toilets are covered in dirt and graffiti, are rarely cleaned and are in a general state of disrepair. He also said that at one point last week the male toilet was closed, as were the male and female toilets by the boating lake.
He is demanding an immediate clean-up of the toilets, which he says are a "health hazard" and an "eyesore".
Speaking this week, Cllr Hoban said: "I have rarely seen a public facility in such a disgusting state as these toilets and urgent action must be taken.
"They are a danger to the public they need to be properly cleaned and the problems sorted out."
A spokesman for Alexandra Palace said: "We have a copy of the councillor's letter and we are acting on it."
