DVD - 30 Days of Night (18)

3:50pm Friday 25th April 2008

AFTER years of really lame vampire films, this is one people will really be able to sink their teeth into.

For 30 days a year, a small Alaskan town is plunged into complete darkness, leaving the townsfolk who decide to stay to cope with the freezing cold isolation.

But one year, and for no apparent reason, but hey, who cares, a group of vampires turn up to bring their unique style of death and destruction to the residents.

A group of battle-weary survivors, led by Sheriff Eben Oleson (Josh Hartnett) find themselves involved in a deadly and terrifying game of cat and mouse where survival is the name of the game.

The vampires in this film are truly terrifying.

From the way they drag screaming humans through the streets, to the horrendous sounds they use to communicate with each other, every action is designed to give the audience shivers and it really works.

The acting is generally excellent and the bloody violence is on a par with any decent horror film. This film really was quite fang-tastic.
