Midas pin chart bid on download route

12:28pm Wednesday 9th April 2008

Stourbridge rockers Midas are offering their tunes to fans through a new free download format.

Last year the band were controversially denied a predicted top 20 chart position after their second single Red Shoes' fell foul of chart watchdogs.

They have now set up their own record label called Plastic Tank' and have made their songs available through the We7.com website.

Songs can be downloaded from the site without charge and come with an attached audio advert which can be deleted after 28 days.

Artists are paid through revenue generated from the advertising while members of the public get their tunes for nothing.

Midas front man Kris Lloyd says, "The innovation of We7 is a step in the right direction, and really interests us. Free download and piracy sites become a little irrelevant if people are able to get their hands on something for nothing legally, it's also a great way for more people to hear our music."

Guitarist Lee Scott said: "With the Charts becoming increasingly irrelevant we are delighted that fans and followers can download our new track Prima Donna' exclusively via We7."

Midas will be releasing further tracks from their recent recording sessions via We7.com.

Meanwhile the band are getting set for their gig at the Party in The Park event in Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge, on Monday May 5.
