IT seems there are some things in life you can always rely on - late winners for Man Utd, a miserable Christmas in soapland and a top notch festive offering from the Worcester Repertory Theatre, writes Teresa Green.

This year’s production was so good I’m tempted to book to see it again.

Writer/director Chris Jaeger’s witty script is tight as a drum. It tells the tale and there are plenty of laughs along the way.

My ten-year-old Nicholas particularly enjoyed the slapstick moments, including a wacky 12 days of Christmas routine, and any scene involving hapless Herman the Henchman (Graeme Brookes), who insists he’s a nice guy really.

At the heart of the show is a terrific performance by Ben Humphrey as Queen Grizelda. His comic timing is perfect and I’ll never be able to hear Feed the Birds again without thinking of his creepy yet hilarious version.

Mr Humphrey receives sterling support from the small ensemble cast of Liz Grand (Fairy Cupcake/Clara the Cook), Oliver Brooks (Muddles), Paul Masters (Prince Valiant) and the sweet-voiced Fiona McGregor (Snow White).

If you like to exercise your vocal chords on nights out, there’s the traditional sing-a-long before the closing scene plus a lively Michael Jackson medley. Overall, an enjoyable, excellent value for money experience.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs at the Swan Theatre until January 6. For tickets, call 01905 611427.
