A VICTORIAN murder mystery, inspired by a true Black Country story, is set to unravel at a Halesowen school in a premiere by Netherton Arts Centre tomorrow, Friday.
The curtain will rise on newly-written piece The Mandrake, The Murder and the Gallows Pole, the story of Mary Ann Masonby by Steve Hyett at The Earls High School.
Inspired by the true story of Mary Ann Mason who was murdered in Kates Hill Dudley in 1855, it will be one of a trio of tales also featuring Victorian melodramas Hairs and Graces and Unhand Me, Squire.
The show will be repeated at the Furnace Lane school this Saturday with both performances starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets, priced £4 (£3 for concessions) are available from Dudley Performing Arts on 01384 813904 and money raised will go to the preservation committee looking after the 169-year-old St John's Church.
