DANCE superstar Carlos Acosta is bringing another dance highlight to Birmingham Hippodrome next month.

Following critically-acclaimed previous outings at the venue, the popular performer will be returning with his new production - Premieres Plus - for three nights only.

Running from Thursday August 18 to Saturday August 18, the show will feature new works and collaborations with major UK and international choreographers, dancers and musicians.

It will also feature Royal Ballet principal Zenaida Yanowsky who partnered Carlos in Premieres in 2010, and Birmingham-based Godiva Awakes Choir, formed as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

The Hippodrome is one of only three UK venues presenting Premieres Plus.

Acosta’s performances in Tocororo in 2004 and last year with Ballet Nacional de Cuba (part of International Dance Festival Birmingham 2010) went down a treat with dance fans and his latest production also promises to enthrall.

Widely considered the greatest male dancer of his generation, he was sent to ballet school at the age of ten by his father who wanted him to live a life free of gangs and petty crime.

After winning a series of top prizes for his performances, he went on to become a principal with the English National Ballet in 1991-2. He also danced with the National Ballet of Cuba and Houston Ballet before joining The Royal Ballet and he later a principal guest artist with The Royal Ballet in 2003.

Performances for Premieres Plus start at 7.30pm.

Tickets range from £16 to £45 and are available online at www.birminghamhippodrome.com or by calling 0844 338 5000.
