COLE Porter's nautical masterpiece Anything Goes, which first dazzled Broadway in 1934, is set to send audiences off smiling into the sunset when it is launched in Kinver next month.

The multi award-winning musical, packed with Porter masterpieces, will be performed by the Kinver Light Operatic Society at Edgecliff High School Theatre from Monday May 5 to Saturday May 10 at 7.30pm.

Luxury liner the SS American sets sail for England with a cargo of colourful characters. Stowaway Bill Crocker is chasing the delectable debutant Hope Harcourt whilst being pursued, in turn, by ex-evangelist turned nightclub hostess Reno Sweeney. Amid the romance, gangster Moonface Martin and a smattering of dimwitted FBI agents add high farce to this romantic comedy.

The riotous plot and wisecracking script co-written by Jeeves author PG Wodehouse, gave Porter the inspiration to write some of his most memorable songs including You're the Top, It's De-Lovely and the title song Anything Goes.

Tickets, priced £7 to £8.50, are available from Jean Mills on 0845 6588083.
