RORY Mcleod is a modern-day troubadour who says his music is best placed in the “difficult listening” section.

He has travelled the world gathering experiences which form the framework for his show of poetry, stories and song.

His travels have also seen him work as a circus clown, fire eater and eve fired from a cannon and each experience has added more inspiration to his repertoire and reputation,

Rory Mcleod said: “I've travelled to look for work, to mend a broken heart, to be with someone I longed for. I'd travel to visit friends and on the way I'd make new ones, I'd roam because I was curious to see what was around the next corner.”

“It has taken me 35 years to become an overnight sensation.”

His down-to-earth take on the world gives him an ability to craft songs from subjects most musicians would leave alone which is why he believes he remains a solo performer.

In describing how he split from a country/blues group and became a one-man band Rory said: “Bluesmen don’t really sing about their grandmas and I have made songs about my mum and grandma.”

Rory McLeod will be live at Katie Fitzgerald’s, Enville Street, Stourbridge, on Thursday August 14.
