BIG names of the British stage and stars of children’s TV are heading to the borough this autumn to be part of Stourbridge Town Hall's entertainment line-up.

Things kick off with some classic blues thanks to a performance by the Red Lemon Electric Blues Band at their 30-year reunion on September 11, while the next big show is a new departure for the town hall, with the first of a new season of National Theatre Live Broadcasts.

It features live performances of plays, concerts and ballets beamed direct to the town hall’s brand new large screen installed in the main town hall.

The National Theatre Live season kicks off with Coriolanus on September 24, starring Tom Hiddleston and Mark Gatiss, followed by Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet on October 15.

Children’s shows come to the fore with Tree Fu Tom on September 26, Sid Sloane from cBeebies with Sid’s Show on October 27 and a stage version of Julia Donaldson’s book The Scarecrows Wedding on November 21.

Ruby Wax will be entertaining audiences with her new show Sane New World, which addresses the nation’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, with gags on the way.

The season wraps up with Ballet Cymru’s version of Cinderella on December 5.

Dudley Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “This is an incredibly strong line-up, with old favourites and some brand new shows.

“Children will love the three kids shows we have planned and I’m really excited about the new National Theatre Live venture which will allow people to experience the thrill of a West End performance, in Stourbridge.”
