GOSPEL queen Ruby Turner and a choral flash mob will delight commuters when they launch BBC Music Day at Birmingham’s New Street Station on Friday (June 3).

The choral spectacular will kick off celebrations, which will see a host of unique and surprising musical happenings taking place around the city.

Ruby will be joined at the busy station by the 30-strong Birmingham Town Hall Gospel Choir to perform a rousing rendition of the gospel classic This Train and other favourites from 9.45am.

BBC Asian Network are also on board and have arranged for British Asian singer Jay Kadn to perform live in the station’s main atrium from 1.30pm and multi-cultural dance troupe DesiNach will deliver a captivating dance routine to a mash up of Bollywood and urban music.

Richie Anderson from BBC WM will bring his afternoon show live from Birmingham’s Love Lock Bridge at the Mailbox from 2pm, with live performances from Guy jones, the city’s Homeless Choir, the Azaad Dhol Drummers and Ocean Colour Scene’s Simon Fowler.
