ONE of Johnny Depp’s favourite musicians will be stopping off in Stourbridge as part of his upcoming UK tour.

Mishka Shubaly, who is also a best-selling author and storyteller, will showcase tracks from his well-received ‘Cowards Path’ album at High Street venue Scary Canary on Thursday, November 17.

Described by Mr Depp as “forever a favourite – sublime” and by comedian Doug Stanhope as “my personal hero”, Shubaly himself calls his work a “collection of depressing, alcoholic, nihilistic songs”.

Shubaly is a fully paid-up Anglophile and said he is looking forward to the touring the British Isles, adding: “I feel an unusual kinship with the English.

“Like you, I find Donald Trump terrifying and America worth mocking, even on a good day.

“I enjoy the fine foods available at your Tesco Express restaurants. And I feel so well-loved there, it's almost like the English have an intimate familiarity with drinking problems, depression, and a pervasive sense of personal failure.”

As celebrated author with six number one Kindle ‘singles’, Shubaly’s last collection have been translated into four languages and sold nearly 200,000 copies.

His new book ‘I Swear I'll Make It Up to You’, described by The Guardian as “a great book with a great title”, is out now.

Tickets to see Mischka Shubaly in Stourbridge cost £5 and can be bought on the door, or in advance by visiting www.wegottickets.com/event/379083
