EMMY-award winning Black Country composer and producer Mark Willott will be showcasing his latest project in Wolverhampton next week.
Bass player and singer Mark, aged 34, has got back together with his old Jet Set Willy bandmates Christian Garrington (vocals and guitar) and Phil Gwynne (vocals) and joined together with Mike Cates on drums and Tim Birks on guitar to form new band Butterfly Stone.
The five-piece outfit fuse film score like orchestration, dirty underground synths and a full on rock band to create emotional and energetic new tunes.
Mark, from Old Hill, a former Stourbridge College photography and media lecturer turned sound designer for a video game developer, netted a prestigious American Emmy award in 2008 for a series of promos for the National Basketball Association playoffs on American TV network TNT which he devised in a tiny bedroom studio on a home-made PC and using a Fender Squire guitar he’d had since his teens.
Continuing to impress with his tunes, he has since been nominated for a second award.
His new project Butterfly Stone can be seen as part of a double bill at Wolverhampton's Slade Rooms on Friday November 25 together with Black Country alternative rock metal band Grace The Skies (which comprises members from Dudley, Cardiff and Bristol).
