Robbie Williams’s wife Ayda Field has landed a meaty new role, as she makes her UK debut in award-winning comedy Fresh Meat.

The 36-year-old US actress will play the “strong minded, no-nonsense and sophisticated” Rosa in the fourth and final series of Channel 4′s university sitcom, who soon catches the eye of Joe Thomas’s Kingsley Owen.

Ayda, who has appeared in American soap Days Of Our Lives, sitcom Back To You and comedy-drama Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, will join the British cast, which includes Zawe Ashton, Jack Whitehall, Joe Thomas, Charlotte Ritchie, Kimberley Nixon and Greg McHugh.

As well as a potential love interest for Kingsley, her character clashes with Charlotte’s alter-ego Melissa “Oregon” Shawcross, who is running for Student Union president.

She filmed her role in Manchester last spring.

Mother-of-two Ayda and Robbie, who married in 2010, live in Los Angeles with the couple’s three-year-old daughter Theodora Rose “Teddy” and one-year-old son Charlton Valentine.

The Let Me Entertain You singer famously live-tweeted Charlton’s birth from hospital, even singing the Frozen hit, Let It Go.

The new series of Fresh Meat, which sees the housemates facing their finals and the prospect of graduation from university, will air on Channel 4 in 2016.
