Folk comes to town and rocks in Stourbridge

Headlined by Nizlopi. who had a huge hit with the 'JCB song', the evening event was held inside and around the glass cone, which dates back to 1776, with other acts including Nick Harper, Rory McLeod, Sunjay Brayne and Flat Stanley.

There was a special attraction for local music fans with an appearance from The Bushbury Mountain Daredevils who are celebrating their 20th anniversary and include Stourbridge musician Eddy Morton from Katie Fitzgeralds.

Apart from the evening line up, Stourbridge radio station 102.5 The Bridge hosted a free event from 10am-4pm with music from Black Country Gaz and Dirty Old Folkers amongst others.

There was also a fire eating demonstration, a magic and comedy show and medieval re-enactments throughout the day.

Stourbridge Folk Festival organiser Paul Smith said the event was a great success and he hoped it would become an annual occasion.

He said: "There was a varied line up of top quality acts as well as other entertainment throughout the day and all in a stunning setting right on the doorstep of most people who attended.

"It was a great turnout and it would be nice to think this could become an annual event because it seemed everyone enjoyed themselves, whether it was listening to the music or just taking in the atmosphere of the venue."

An auction was held for a piece of glassware and all proceeeds supported charity Casa Alianza which works with street children in South America.
