Alice in Chains take aim at closed minds for their UK gigs

The band's attack on belief systems comes in the form of their latest album, controversially called The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.

The band is on the road in Britain to promote the album and follow up a storming show at this summer's Download festival.

Alice In Chains’ guitarist Jerry Cantrell said: "We're really excited to be returning to the UK for our first headline run in support of the Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.

"The UK and its fans have always been very good to us and we're very much looking forward to playing for all of them."

The band say the theme of their critically acclaimed album is intended as an attack on religion.

Singer William DuVall said: "We’re really speaking to a much larger issue of a certain brand of narrow-mindedness that has always been there and has always been represented by a relatively small minority but right now that minority is able to command a great deal of attention and a great deal of resources to summon a pretty strong push back that is more aggressive than we’ve ever seen it.”

Alice in Chains will be on stage at Birmingham's O2 Academy on Wednesday November 13.
