BOY band The Wanted will be on the road next Spring to promote a record two years in the making.

The album Word of Mouth is described as a mix of classic pop which also explores new ground for the group touted as rivals to One Direction.

Despite negative press reports blaming low ticket sales for show cancellations on the tour’s European leg the band remain keen to play live.

Wanted man Max George said: “We can't wait to get back on the road, one of the best things about being in a band is performing live in front of the fans, and to do that across the world has always been our dream. Every night is going to be one long party.”

Word of Mouth received mixed reviews but the band say it has been worth the wait.

Singer Tom Parker said: “It's taken us two years to make this album and we are all really proud of the time and effort, not just that we put in to it but all the writers and the label too. We think it's our strongest album to date.”

The Wanted play Birmingham’s LG Arena on Thursday March 20.
