A BAND of brothers with a love of the blues groove are lined up for a gig in Dudley.

Brothers Groove has a reputation for delivering funky blues with a hint of industrial edge born in their native Birmingham.

The group has been together since 1991 and features Shaun Hill on guitar and vocals, Nigel Mellor on guitar and vocals, Deano on bass and vocals.

Drummer Wayne Proctor should have a good understanding of the songs in the set having also produced Brothers Groove’s latest album Play The Game.

Classic Rock Blues described the band as a “Blistering Birmingham combo endorsed by Paul Jones and Mud Morganfield, old-school blues with plenty of soul.”

Paul Jones on BBC Radio 2 heard their track called My Guitar, which is now on the album, and described it as “wonderful”.

Play The Game was recorded over several weeks in Superfly Studios in Ollerton and mixed by Steve Wright at Y Dream Studios in Wales.

It was mastered by the legendary Jon Astley who has worked on recordings by some of the biggest names in rock including Led Zeppelin, The Who, Eric Clapton, John Mayall, Peter Gabriel, Sting and Paul McCartney.

Their live experience includes performances at prestigious venues including Ronnie Scotts, the band also played to a crowd of 93,000 at Centenary Square, Birmingham in 1996 after winning a battle of the bands competition.

Brothers Groove are hitting the road this month for a tour to promote the album which will be out on Monday January 27.

The tour includes a date at the Brewhouse Blues Club at The Lamp Tavern, High Street, Dudley, on Friday February 14.
