A BLACK Country music venue is getting set for a visit from one of the biggest names in US rock.

Jefferson Starship is the reincarnation of Jefferson Airplane, who were formed in 1965 by Paul Kantner and went on to become the first San Francisco band to sign a major record deal.

The stellar son of the Airplane was created in 1971 and featured performers from the Grateful Dead as well as former Airplane members including singer Grace Slick.

Slick’s voice will forever be synonymous with the psychedelic tracks White Rabbit and Somebody To Love, which helped make Jefferson Airplane globally successful.

Although the Starship line up has undergone many changes, Paul Kantner remains a current band member and the rest of the group are internationally respected musicians, including Grammy nominated singer Cath Richardson.

Jefferson Starship will be playing live at the Robin 2 in Bilston on Tuesday January 28.
