FRANZ Ferdinand exploded onto the music scene when their second single Take Me Out reached number three in the UK Charts.
The Glasgow-based band, whose self-titled debut album also got to number three, scooped a number of prestigious music awards in their early years after their formation in 2002.
The hit single, Do You Want To, cemented their place on the new millennium’s indie rock scene along with another British band whose name has historical connections - the Kaiser Chiefs (Franz Ferdinand was an Austrian archduke whose assassination played a major part in causing world war I).
Both groups mastered the art of crafting songs which became raucous club sing/shout along anthems and catapulted them into the million-selling bracket of rock stardom.
Franz Ferdinand’s latest album, Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action, was released in August 2013 and achieved largely positive reviews.
Franz Ferdinand will be playing live at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on Friday March 21, doors open at 6pm.
