DUTCH Uncles will treat crowds to tracks from their latest album, Big Balloon, when they perform in Birmingham.
The band, which comprises Duncan Wallis, Robin Richards, Peter Broadhead and Andrew Proudfoot, took musical inspiration from Kate Bush's The Red Shoes, low-era David Bowie and eastern European techno, for their fifth studio album.
The title track helped steer the direction of the rest of the album, which tackles subjects including austerity cuts, therapy, fried chicken, paranoia and coming to terms with loneliness.
"It reminded us of the potency of the electric guitar, and brought them back as focal instruments on the record," said Richards, the band's composer.
Dutch Uncles will bring their unique art-pop manoeuvres to the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath on March 6.
