ATMOSPHERIC thriller Holmes and the Ripper will be the latest production to hit the stage at Oldbury Rep.

Based on the book ‘Jack the Ripper, the Final Solution’ by Stephen Knight, the Brian Clemens play is a fast-moving dramatization of one of the most plausible of Ripper theories.

During the autumn of 1888, London’s Whitechapel was plagued by a rash of terrible murders all being committed by Jack the Ripper.

Sherlock Holmes soon becomes embroiled in the grisly investigations and learns that there is more to these murders than meets the eye. Holmes and Dr Watson are drawn into one of the darkest scandals ever to shake the foundations of English Society.

There are freemasons, conspiracies and plots at the highest level of the establishment, but for Holmes, there is a uniquely personal element to this new and terrifying case.

The production, starring Garry Cooper-Stanton as Sherlock Holmes and Chris Cooper-Stanton as Dr Watson, runs from Saturday (November 4) until Saturday, November 11, with performances starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced at £10 for adults, £9 concessions, and £8 on Monday and Tuesday evenings, are available online at www.oldburyrep.org, in person at the box office, or by calling 0121 552 2761.
