Hagley Hall set for romance in the open air

ROMANTICS with a passion for theatre are in for a treat when a top theatre company calls at Hagley Hall.

The Chapterhouse Theatre Company is breaking its habit of staging Shakespeare plays at the country estate with a performance of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

The show, on Saturday July 7, will take place in the grounds of the stately home and will be the first time in four years the annual Theatre in the Park event will not feature a work by the bard.

Pride and Prejudice producer, Richard Main, said: "Join family and friends for what promises to be the most splendid evening of the summer as you picnic in the grounds and revel in one of the most renowned of love stories.

"Take a step back in time to meet Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters. While her mother tries determinedly to pair her off with the detestable Mr Collins, Elizabeth meets the rude and abrupt Mr Darcy."

Doors open at 5pm and the performance will start at 7pm and visitors will be able to bring a picnic, all tickets must be bought in advance.
