Blowers hits the road with tales of TMS

ONE of cricket's best-loved characters will be out to entertain with test match tales during a nationwide theatre tour.

Henry Blofeld OBE is teaming up with fellow commentator Peter Baxter to share stories from 35 years of the BBC's Test Match Special (TMS) radio programme, which broadcasts live from England's fixtures around the globe.

TMS has become a national institution with its mix of top-class sport, insightful commentary and witty chat.

Henry Blofeld said: "Test Match Special is as much fun to be part of in the commentary box as most people seem to think it is to listen to.

"Backers produced the show for 34 years, for all of which he was my boss. He brings the behind-the-scenes adventures he had in the production process to join my in-front-of-the-microphone stories and high jinks."

Peter Baxter added: “Test Match Special has always been like a family - and the listeners are part of that family. And like all families, there are so many stories of the characters in it."

Blofeld and Baxter: Memories of Test Match Special will be at Birmingham Town Hall on Saturday July 21.
