Black Country venue launches search for best live band
3:45pm Friday 3rd August 2012 in Nightlife
A MIDLANDS music venue has launched its annual search for the best live bands in the Black Country.
The Robin 2 in Bilston, which regularly plays host to international recording stars, will get its Live Band of The Year competition under way on August 6.
The Mount Pleasant club will be hosting heats and monthly finals throughout the rest of 2012 until the grand final on Friday December 14.
Robin 2 spokesman, Mike Hamblett, said: "There has been a great take up already for bands which have entered the competition, some really good bands. We still have a few places left.
"Any band interested should go onto our website to download an entry form."
The winning band will collect a host of top prizes including a professional recording session at Wolverhampton's M2 studios, a photo shoot with international music photographer Tony Mottram, a place on the bill at the 2013 Cambridge Rock Festival and a video interview filmed by Base Studios in Stourbridge.
