Musgraves take top spot at Stourbridge fest

The Musgraves The Musgraves

EASYGOING musicians The Musgraves are heading for the headline slot at a big day of live music in Stourbridge.

The Midlands quartet, who have appeared on prime time TV and national BBC radio, will be rounding off a revamped line up of performers for the Smartfest 2012 music fest on Saturday August 11.

The event will also include sets from Jacob Lloyd, One Sixth of Tommy, Envy, Open to Fire, Of Kings and Captains, Young Runaways and Kelly Louise.

The Smartfest music fest at Stourbridge Town Hall had previously been scheduled to take place in Mary Stevens Park, but fears about poor weather forced a venue move and change of headline act from singer Kerry Ellis.

Smartfest spokesman, Dan Richards, said: “We regret that after discussions with Kerry’s management, we have been left with no option but to cancel her appearance at the event.

“Naturally, we understand the disappointment this will cause to many people, but we have had to cut back our plans significantly.

“Kerry is a phenomenal talent and we’d like to publicly thank her for her time and commitment to Smartfest thus far."

Smartfest 2012 will run for three days starting on Friday August 10, entrance to Saturday's music fest will be free, doors open at 1.30pm.
