If you are looking for a heavenly night out, which will leave you tapping your feet to the beat, then Sister Act is definitely the one to watch.

Running at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre until Saturday February 18, the show is divinely feel-good.

Arriving from its successful West End run, the plot remains faithful to the popular 90s film, when club singer Deloris Van Cartier is sent into hiding at a convent after witnessing her gangland boyfriend shoot dead one of his henchmen.

Taking on the iconic Whoopi Goldberg role is Cynthia Erivo, fresh out of RADA, who excels in the role.

Her stunning voice and excellent comic timing make her a perfectly cast Deloris.

Appearing alongside Erivo are former soap stars Denise Black as Mother Superior and Michael Starke as Monsignor O’Hara, who are perfectly paired together.

Special mention must also go to loveable nuns Julie Atherton, Laurie Scarth and Jacqueline Clarke, as Sister Mary Robert, Sister Mary Patrick and Sister Mary Lazarus as well as henchmen Gavin Alex, Daniel Stockton and Tyrone Huntley as Pablo, Joey and TJ, who all provided the most laughter from the ‘congregation’ in their show-stealing scenes.

With stunning costumes which included sequin festooned habits, uplifting and energetic songs, dancing and plotline, the show is a joy to watch.
