Cara Delevingne has hit back at the incredibly awkward TV interview with an American network.

The Paper Towns star’s interview with Good Day Sacramento turned into car-crash TV as she became irritated with the anchors, who complained about her attitude and told her to “take a nap”.

The model-turned-actress, who stars with Nat Wolff in the big screen adaptation of John Green’s novel, claimed the interviewers didn’t understand her British sense of humour and her sarcastic manner.

She had support from celebrities such as Zach Braff and Boy George, as well as thousands of her fans on Twitter.

The 22-year-old star also hinted she had no remorse over the interview when she posted a quote from Maya Angelou on Instagram.

The interview started off on a bad foot when Cara was introduced as Carla, but the interview didn’t get any better when the questions started, with the anchors asking patronising questions about whether she had found the time to actually read John’s novel or whether she was “too busy”.

She quipped she had “never read the book, or the script. I kind of winged it”, before explaining that she had of course read the book and found it “amazing”.

Things became even more awkward when one of the presenters asked her: “You seemed a lot more excited about it than you do now. Are you just exhausted?”

Another host said: “You do seem a bit irritated. Perhaps it’s just us,” to which she replied: “Yeah, yeah, I think it’s just you.”

The unimpressed anchor told Cara to “take a little nap, maybe get a Red Bull”, before the interview was cut short after three minutes.
