Drake’s One Dance shows no sign of leaving the dance floor, becoming the second-longest consecutive number one in UK chart history.

The Canadian rapper has now dominated the charts for 15 weeks in a row, equalling the reign of Scottish band Wet Wet Wet with their 1995 hit Love Is All Around.

This leaves him just one week away from beating the all-time record of 16 weeks, held by Bryan Adams’s 1991 single (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.

In addition to taking the top spot yet again, One Dance was also the most streamed track of the week, with 4.33 million plays, the Official Charts Company said.

Katy Perry’s Rise had a slow start in the charts, entering at number 25. The song could see more success further down the line as it is set to be used in Olympics coverage in the US.

The former Beatles singer said it felt “unbelievable” to receive the official chart record breaker award.

He said: “Okay, you know how it really feels? It feels unbelievable, because when you write your songs you don’t count how well they’re doing… So thank you to the people for giving it to me, I love you.

“And thank you to everyone who made it possible by buying the records, we love you too!”

Sir Paul has notched up 22 number one albums across his career.
