New doc on block
A new consultant has been appointed to the Dudley Group of Hospitals to play a major role in the diagnosis of cancers and other diseases.
Egyptian-born Dr Amgad Hosny Youssef is a histopathology consultant involved in the examination of tissues under a microscope.
Tissues that are examined can include tumour biopsies that have been taken by a surgical team and are processed into very thin sections and placed onto glass slides for a consultant diagnosis.
Dr Youssef, aged 36, lives in Solihull with family after moving to the UK in 2000. He spent time at Russells Hall Hospital before taking up a post in histopathology at Birmingham's Heartlands Hospital in 2001. After advanced training he became a consultant last May.
His specialist areas of interest are within breast and urology pathology and also education and training of histopathology.
