Wizard readings impress kids

A Halesowen author impressed a whole host of school pupils by reading from a book she has written about a wizard and his adventures as he tries to rescue his magical bird.

Michelle Gannon (pictured) read passages from Woll - Wizard of Love and Laughter - to youngsters from Pens Meadow School in Wordsley and Forestdale School in Birmingham at Waterstones bookshop in the Merry Hill Centre.

The 88-page publication follows the adventures of Woll, whose magical bird is stolen. In his quest to find it, he comes across a host of magical and mystical creatures.

Michelle, aged 30, said: "The children asked me some questions on the book and they said they thought it was good and they would buy a book to read the rest of it.

"The schools bought six books from me to put in their library and to give to the head of literacy and I might be going to their school to read it to more of the children in the library."

For details visit www.wizardofloveandlaughter.co.uk about the story and characters in the book. The book priced £5.99 is available from www.waterstones.com and www.amazon.co.uk.
