Halesowen singers tuning up for classical favourite

CLASSICAL music standard, Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, can be heard in Halesowen next month in a performance by the town’s acclaimed choral society.

Leading the singers will be soloists soprano Katie Leaver, tenor Mitesh Khatri and baritone Paul Mocroft in the performance on Saturday November 10 at St Margaret’s Church, Hasbury.

Pianists will be Alastair Moseley and Sarah Marshall, with Huw Thomas on timpani and percussion ensemble by Chris Davis.

The work, composed in 1936, features a collection of Latin poetry from the 12th century which was discovered in 1803 at a monastery near Munich in Germany. Orff selected 24 of the poems and arranged them by theme, O Fortuna being the most well-known.

The autumn concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets, priced £8, are available on the door or in advance by ringing 0121 550 7206 or emailing tickets@halesowenchoralsociety.org
