WITH thoughts now turning to shopping for Christmas gifts, a Dudley charity appeal is hoping residents will once again help them in providing presents for disadvantaged borough children.
Dudley CVS has launched its annual Ho Ho Ho Operation Santa Appeal to help some of the 15,000 borough youngsters living below the poverty line.
And organisers are hoping residents will help them beat last year’s record-breaking number of donations, with 1,977 toys and gifts benefiting 3,835 children.
Individuals, as well as businesses, schools, voluntary groups and emergency services are being encouraged to buy an extra gift in the run-up to the festive season to donate to the appeal.
All gifts must be new or unused and still in the original packaging and suitable for children aged from newborn up to 16 years-old.
Organisers are also appealing for donations of books, stationery, selection boxes, wrapping paper, tags and sticky tape.
Drop off points are being set up around Dudley borough for residents to take their donations.
To find your nearest point contact Eileen Fielding at the Dudley CVS Volunteer Centre on 01384 573381.
Anyone interested in offering an additional collection point or storage facilities should also call Eileen on the number above.
The appeal has also received the backing of Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company, which is putting on a special performance of its pantomime ‘Aladdin and the Magic Lamp’ at Brierley Hill Civic Hall in January for free for over 600 under privileged children.
