BANK robbers have succeeded in a Hollywood style bank heist by cutting a hole into a Quinton bank and stealing tens of thousands of pounds.
Overnight on Sunday the robbers managed to cut through the wall at the Lloyds TSB, Hagley Road West unnoticed.
Staff discovered the break-in when they arrived at the bank on Monday morning.
They found a hole, just big enough for a person to squeeze through, and cash taken from an ATM in the building.
Detective Sergeant Michael Greenland from the force's criminal investigation department is leading the inquiry.
He said: "This was an organised and carefully planned raid on a bank, at a time when the cash machine was well stocked.
"The audacious robbery happened just a few feet from the busy Hagley Road West and the offenders even covered their tracks by placing a tarpaulin sheet over the rear yard to hide their activities from view.”
He added: "They clearly knew what they were doing as they were very quick to commit the robbery and then get away.
"I would urge anyone who was passing by or who has information about the raid to speak to us as soon as possible."
Witnesses should contact police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
