Cradley Heath lift firm in business awards final

A FAMILY-led Cradley Heath company is reaching new heights after winning through to the finals of the Midlands Business Awards in two categories.

Lift and Engineering Services Ltd is vying for the title of Manufacturer of the Year and its managing director Dave Haywood is in the running for Business Person of the Year.

The Portersfield Road company, which is 30 years old, is one of the last remaining lift manufacturers in the country, employing almost 100 people.

Mr Haywood said: “To reach the finals in two categories is a fantastic achievement for everyone in the company.

“The Black Country is the manufacturing capital of the country and I’m pleased to be able to promote ourselves and the Black Country.”

The company will find out on Friday if it has won the coveted titles at the awards presentation at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

It was a finalist in last year’s Black Country Chamber of Commerce Manufacturer of the Year award and won a merit in the British Safety Council’s International Safety Awards.
