Halesowen sale planned to boost foodbank
7:50am Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
A NEW and nearly new sale, selling many items with a price tag of just 50p or £1, is being held in Halesowen to raise funds for the Black Country Foodbank.
Clothes for men, women, children and babies, plus bedding, toys and school uniforms will be up for grabs at the town’s United Church, Hagley Road, on Saturday February 16 from noon until 2pm. Volunteer Helen Bryan said "This will be our third sale where we are selling surplus goods thereby helping local families in need as well as raising money for the foodbank to meet essential running costs. These sales are proving very popular".
The Black Country Foodbank distributes emergency food supplies to vulnerable people and families in crisis from outlets across Dudley.
Those eligible can obtain vouchers from organisations including the Citizens Advice Bureau, Jobcentre, social services and some community centres, which can be exchanged for food, clothing and household items donated by the public.
