Controversial proposals for retirement village on Cradley High site to come before planners

UNPOPULAR plans for an £18 million retirement village on the former Cradley High site will go before planners next week.

Proposals from Midland Heart for a 120 apartment block on Homer Hill Road prompted a campaign from nearby residents concerned over loss of green space, parking and road safety problems.

A report to planners notes that 68 objections and a petition with 64 signatures have been received by Dudley Council.

Midland Heart specialises in extra care developments for the over 55s and following a consultation has reduced the height of the building from four to three-storeys, with access through Slade Road.

It is also proposing 11 homes be built on the northern side of the site, backing onto existing homes in Ormande Close.

The planning meeting will be at Dudley Council House on Monday February 18, at 6pm.
