Number 9 services running 30 mins late after bus stabbing

NUMBER 9 bus services are running around 30 minutes late as a result of this morning’s fatal stabbing on a bus bound for Stourbridge.

Stourbridge Bus Station manager Steve Hutchinson said the number 9, which runs from Stourbridge to Birmingham, is the only Stourbridge service affected by the incident, which happened at 7.37am on a bus in Hagley Road at the junction of Five Ways.

He added: “It’s approximately half an hour late in running. There’s a good chance the diversion will stay for the remainder of the day – but hopefully we’ll slowly get back on time by the middle of the day towards lunch.”

A senior paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle, two BASICS Emergency medics and two ambulance crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the incident but the 16-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene.
