THE shock stabbing of Halesowen schoolgirl Christina Edkins this morning (Thursday) has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes on social media sites.

The 16-year-old, who lived in Birmingham, had just boarded the number 9 bus in Hagley Road, near Five Ways, when she was attacked during rush hour at around 7.40am.

As confirmation of Christina’s identify emerged Twitter fans began posting tributes and messages of condolence on the social media site.

One Tweeted: “cannot believe it rip Christina:(.”

Another posted: “christina edkins, what a beautiful girl #rip xxxxxx.”

And a pal said: “It won't be the same anymore Christina was always so happy and smiling. She had such a beautiful smile you couldn't help but smile back rip❤.”

Another Twitter user said: “Who on earth gets up in a morning with the full intentions to hurt somebody?! RIP Christina Edkins x x.”

Flowers have been placed at the school gates in tribute to the popular blonde pupil and a Facebook site http://www.facebook.com/ChristinaEdkinsRIP?ref=stream has been set up and has already been seen by thousands of people.
