ASDA have announced its stores across Birmingham and the Black Country would be collecting money in memory of murdered Halesowen schoolgirl Christina Edkins.
What began as a simple collection in the Halesowen Cornbow Centre ASDA store is now being rolled out to Oldbury, Merry Hill, Quinton, Perry Barr and Small Heath.
A spokesman for the RIP Christina Edkins Facebook group said: “The money will be given to the family to cover the costs of the funeral but also for things like a bench, plaque or whatever the family sees fit for her memory.
“And other funds like this have created anti-knife campaigns and movements in schools around the country.”
The spokesman added: “Thanks to all those involved and double thanks to Sam Warby who seems to be the mastermind behind this tremendous effort.
“Please do anything you can think of to raise donations and give them to these stores.“
