CHEMIST Dinesh Patel took a break from work at his Halesowen pharmacy to scale Mount Kilimanjaro and raise more than £1,600 to fight the killer disease malaria.

The 54-year-old, who runs the Hawne Chemist, was one of a group of six to tackle Africa’s highest mountain last month.

He said the expedition went well, with acclimatising to the altitude being the toughest challenge.

Mr Patel hopes to raise £2,000 for the charity Against Malaria and contributions can still be made online at www.againstmalaria.com/dineshpatel
