A HALESOWEN school, which made history when it became the first in the borough to federate with another primary in the town has won praise from inspectors, who judged it “good” with outstanding features.

Lapal Primary federated with Lutley - sharing the same headteacher and governing body - a year ago, and was marked “satisfactory” by Ofsted in its two previous inspections.

The behaviour and safety of the children was judged to be outstanding when Inspectors visited earlier this month and they reported seeing outstanding teaching and leadership.

They said: “Pupils exemplary attitudes to learning and excellent behaviour ensure that learning is never interrupted in lessons.”

Their report also acknowledged the hard work of staff and governors in driving forward school improvement.

The inspectors said a few improvements, mainly in maths, were needed for the school to earn an overall “outstanding” grade.

Executive headteacher Jeanette Mackinney said: “This report is a recognition of the tremendous effort that has gone on over the last few years to rapidly improve standards and make our school the wonderful pace it now is.”
