A RUBBISH strewn wasteland is set to be transformed into a prime green space in Halesowen.
Volunteers, councillors, Dudley Council’s employees and young offenders are all working together in Belle Vale to clean up the grazing land near Crimmond Rise.
Stourbridge Road and Crimmond Rise residents complained about the state of the two acres of land and demanded action.
Belle Vale Councillor Jill Nicholls is heading up the project with youth offending team manager Alan John of the Dudley Youth Offending Service.
Cllr Nicholls said: “This is a long term project and is likely to last throughout the rest of the year.
“It is hoped to restore the grazing land back to its former glory and part of it is already used for this purpose, and has horses grazing on there.”
She added: “I appeal to local householders to take a pride in their environment by reporting anyone they see dumping rubbish on this land, be extra vigilant, and take registration numbers of any vehicles seen, and report them to the environmental management team at Dudley Council.
“People need to be aware they could face a hefty fine if they are caught flytipping.”
The land had been used for grazing land until this stopped three years ago.
