DAN COX wants his Old Hill side to keep working and maintain the momentum gained over the past fortnight.

Successive wins, the latest a 114-run success against Ombersley, have seen a rapid rise up the Birmingham Premier League Division One table.

Cox though stressed the need for more of the same, starting with a difficult trip to Smethwick on Saturday (noon).

“Obviously we have got to keep doing the rights things and not be complacent, and most importantly keep looking to improve.”

Part of the difference in the last two performances Cox puts down to the impact of left-arm spinner Nigel Davenport.

“Nigel has bowled fantastically well in the last two weeks giving us control at one end. But as a unit we’ve started to fulfil some of our potential and its all started to fall into place for us but there are still things that we can improve.”

Ombersley were all but blown away by a early burst from Toby Lester and Elliott Wilson to leave 8-4 before being dismissed for 131, only Ted Bayliss (48) and Freddie Wynn (38) offering any prolonged resistance as Davenport’s 4-20 swayed the game the host’s way.

Earlier, Nitesh Patel made 83 and received good backing from James Howell (57) and Cox (33) with Mike Hingley also on form as Hill posted 245-7.
