BOROUGH bike riders are in for a treat this summer as Dudley Council has teamed up with British Cycling to create a series of Sky Rides starting this Sunday in Netherton.

It’s the first time that Dudley has joined forces with British Cycling to promote an exciting series of 25 led rides throughout the borough - all of which are absolutely free to take part in!

The objective is to encourage everyone to join the cycling revolution which is sweeping Britain at present and Cllr Tracy Wood confirmed: “It’s a chance for everyone to dig their bikes out of the shed, dust them down and get back on the saddle.

“We’ve put together a programme of rides for all ages and abilities which take in many of our parks and beautiful green spaces”.

Dudley’s first ever Sky Ride commences on Sunday, June 23 with a 45 minute traffic-free tour of Saltwells Nature Reserve starting at 2pm.

The following weekend, there’s a choice of two Sky Rides taking place. They comprise of a steady seven mile tour of the Coseley West Loop which is suitable for all the family.

Alternatively there’s a more testing 19 mile trip entitled the Black Country‘s Bostin Views taking in the scenic delights of Hagley, Clent, Belbroughton and Romsley.

Further rides planned in July include the Black Country Water Ride, The Netherton Kneejerk, The Kinver C(K)limber, the Stourbridge Challenge and a Traffic Confidence Builder plus the slightly longer Three Counties Tour.

Everyone interested in taking part are advised to book in advance by visiting www.goskyride.com/Dudley Each event will be guided by British Cycling ride leaders along planned routes and are aimed at all levels and abilities.
