Friends group set up to help support Cradley library
12:30pm Wednesday 7th August 2013 in News
A NEW friends’ group set up to promote and support Cradley Library in the face of council budget cuts is holding a coffee morning to discuss ideas and recruit new members.
The group has the backing of Dudley Council and with 20 people at the inaugural meeting at the library in Colley Lane a week ago, a constitution was drawn up and a committee appointed.
Publicity officer Stephanie Sellers said the group aims to “promote, improve and support” the library’s services.
She added that Halesowen library’s locality manager Sandra Francis and Councillor Tim Crumpton pointed out at the meeting that “there are no plans to close the library at the moment but at a time of budget pressures any help which can be provided by such a group will be greatly appreciated.”
The coffee morning will be held on Friday August 23 from 10.30 am until noon, when coffee, tea and cakes will be for sale and the friends will be available to discuss the group’s aims and take details of new members.
