Dragon's Den chance for Sandwell entrepreneurs
3:51pm Friday 9th August 2013 in News
YOUNG entrepreneurs are being given help to set up businesses through a Dragon’s Den-style scheme run by Sandwell Council.
Successful candidates will be offered a council-owned unit for a rent free period of 12 months, intense start-up support by a partnering organisation and mentoring as, and when, required during the first year of trading.
The scheme is designed for people aged 18 to 25 who live in the borough and they will face a Dragon's Den-style session where they present their idea to a panel of experts including successful business people from the private sector.
Cabinet member for jobs and economy Councillor Ian Jones said: "There are a lot of highly motivated young people in Sandwell who are struggling to put their business idea into practice because they don't have the finance or the support required to start a business.
"We see this as a golden opportunity to offer proper and sound advice to these youngsters. At the end of the day they are Sandwell's future."
